NTA Guidelines for NEET (UG) - 2024 Aspirants

    The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test -Undergraduate [NEET(UG) 2024] is a mandatory examination conducted for medical aspirants seeking to pursue higher education in India and abroad. The exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) every year in the month of May, for admission to undergraduate medical education in all medical institutions.

    With more than 23 Lakh students who have registered this year, NEET (UG) is a highly competitive examination for medical aspirants. It is a gateway to securing admission to prestigious medical colleges across India and pursuing a career in the field of medicine.

    Compliance with the NEET (UG) 2024 guidelines for candidates is made mandatory by the NTA to ensure fair conduct of the examination. The guidelines are outrightly mentioned in the information bulletin on the NTA official website, which includes the dress code, barred items, etc, to be followed by the candidates in the examination hall.

    NEET (UG) - 2024 Admit Card

    1. Candidate who have fulfilled the eligibility conditions of the exam will be issued an Admit Card.
    2. Candidate can download and print the Admit Card from the NTA website https://exams.nta.ac.in/NEET/.
    3. No candidate will be allowed to enter the examination center without Admit Card
    4. No candidate will be allowed to appear at the Examination Centre other than the one allotted to in the Admit Card.
    5. Before heading the examination, candidates are required to thoroughly go through the guidelines given in the Admit Card.
    6. If any discrepancies are found in the Admit Card or Confirmation Page, candidates should promptly contact the NTA Help Line between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm. In such instances, candidates should appear for the examination with the previously downloaded Admit Card. However, NTA will subsequently take appropriate steps to rectify the records.

    NEET (UG) - 2024 Barred Items

    To ensure fair practices at the examination, candidates must undergo thorough frisking before entering the examination center. The following are the things not permitted to be carried inside the examination center:

    1. Any item like textual material (printed or written), bits of papers, Geometry/Pencil Box,
    2. Plastic Pouch, Calculator, Pen, Scale, Writing Pad, Pen Drives, Eraser, Calculator, Log
    3. Table, Electronic Pen/Scanner, etc.
    4. Any communication device like Mobile Phone, Bluetooth, Earphones, Microphone, Pager,
    5. Health Band, etc.
    6. Other items like Wallet, Goggles, Handbags, Belt, Cap, etc.
    7. Any Watch/Wristwatch, Bracelet, Camera, ornaments/metallic items, etc.
    8. Any food items opened or packed, water bottle, etc.
    9. Any other item that could be used for unfair means, by hiding communication devices
    10. like a microchip, camera, Bluetooth device, etc.

    Please Note: Candidates are strongly advised not to bring any prohibited items to the examination hall, as there will be no arrangements at the examination center for keeping the candidates' belongings. Additionally, candidates wearing articles or objects of faith (customary/ cultural/ religious) should report at the examination center at least two hours before the last reporting time.

    NEET (UG) - 2024 Dress Code

    Following are the dress code instructed for candidates appearing for NEET(UG) 2024:

    1. Heavy or dark colour clothes and/or long sleeves are not permitted.
    2. Customary clothes are permitted only with specific approval from the NTA.
    3. Candidates must wear open footwear such as slippers, and sandals with low heels, closed footwear such as shoes, sneakers, etc. are not allowed.
    4. In case of any medical circumstances, candidates must obtain the required approval from NTA.

    Please Note: Candidates wearing customary or cultural attire must obtain prior approval from the NTA, especially during the NEET (UG) 2024 application process. Additionally, candidates are advised to arrive at the examination venue at least 2 hours before the final reporting time, which is 12:30 pm, to facilitate thorough frisking procedures without inconvenience.

    Instructions to be followed in the Examination Hall

    The Examination Center will be opened 2 hours before the commencement of the Test. Candidates are required to reach the examination center before the closing time and no candidate is permitted to enter the examination center after 1:30 PM. Following are the key timings for NEET (UG) 2024:

    Documents Candidates must carry to the Examination Center

    1. A printed copy of the Admit Card downloaded from the NTA website must include a passport-size photograph affixed to it, matching the one uploaded on the Application form.
    2. One passport-size photograph, identical to the one uploaded on the Online Application Form, must be affixed to the designated space on the Attendance Sheet at the Centre during the NEET (UG) - 2024 Examination.
    3. A color photograph with dimensions of one postcard size (4”X 6”) and a white background should be affixed to the Proforma downloaded with the Admit Card. This Proforma, along with the postcard-size photograph, must be submitted to the Invigilator in the Examination Hall.
    4. Any one of the authorized photo IDs must be original and valid, such as PAN card, Driving License, Voter ID, Passport, Aadhaar Card, Ration Card, Class 12 Admit Card with Photograph, or any other valid photo ID issued by the Government.
    5. The PwBD certificate issued by the Competent Authority is required if claiming relaxation under the PwBD category.

    Candidates must ensure they occupy their assigned seats before the examination begins. They are required to provide their Admit Card upon demand at the Examination Hall. Additionally, candidates must sign twice on the Attendance Sheet: first immediately after the exam starts and again while handing over the Answer Sheet. Furthermore, candidates must provide their thumb impression on the Attendance Sheet.

    Unfair Means Practices and Breach of Examination Rules

    1. Possession of any item or article which has been prohibited or can be used for unfair practices including stationery, communication devices, accessories, food items, ornaments, or any material relevant or irrelevant to the examination.
    2. Using someone to write the examination or preparing material for copying.
    3. Breaching examination rules or any direction issued by NTA in connection with the
    4. conduct of the NEET (UG) - 2024.
    5. Assisting other candidates to engage in malpractices, giving or receiving assistance
    6. directly or indirectly.
    7. Writing questions or answers on any material other than the answer sheet.
    8. Tearing of Answer Sheet, any page of the test booklet, etc.
    9. Contacting or communicating with any person, other than the Examination Staff during the examination.
    10. Taking away the answer sheet out of the examination hall/room.
    11. Smuggling out of Question Paper or its part or smuggling out answer sheet.
    12. Threatening exam officials or candidates.
    13. Using unauthorized methods or means during the exam.
    14. Manipulating or fabricating online documents such as admit cards or rank letters.
    15. Forcibly entering or exiting the examination center/hall.
    16. Using electronic devices after entering the examination center.
    17. Uploading incorrect or manipulated photographs on application forms/admit cards.
    18. Erasing or obliterating information on the OMR Answer Sheet.
    19. Providing incorrect information on the OMR Answer Sheet.
    20. Tampering with OMR sheets or making fake claims before or after result declaration.
    21. Disrupting the smooth and fair conduct of the examination.
    22. Engaging in any other malpractices deemed unfair by the NTA.

    Please Note: Candidates found violating examination rules may face serious consequences, including a three-year debarment, criminal action, and/or other appropriate measures, with their results being canceled by the NTA.
