Final Verdict: NEET (UG) 2024 Re-test Denied by Supreme Court
Supreme Court Final Verdict: No Re-test for NEET (UG) 2024

On July 23, 2024, the Supreme Court ruled the decision and declared the verdict on No Re-test of NEET (UG) 2024, after weeks of hearings regarding the alleged question paper leak. The Supreme Court further rejected the request for re-examination and cancellation of the examination, citing the potential disruption to the sanctity of the examination and the consequences that will impact the students who have appeared in the NEET (UG) 2024.

A bench headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) D.Y. Chandrachud, observed that the paper leak happened in Hazaribagh and Patna. However, the court overruled the situation as there is no evidence to prove the breach of the sanctity of the examination.

The court also acknowledged the disputed physics question. “We accept the IIT Delhi report and accordingly NTA shall re-tally the NEET UG result on the basis that option 4 represents the only correct answer to the question,” said CJI.

With NEET (UG) 2024 final hearing from the CJI, the online counselling and admission process for candidates who have qualified NEET (UG) 2024 will proceed as scheduled.

The Supreme Court hearing upholds new hope for medical schools to move forward with the admission process for admitting students for medical studies. The court’s final decision provides clarity regarding paper leaks, NEET re-test, and other things, allowing Medical schools to proceed with the counselling process and further admission process.
